Marching Orders

16 Apr

P1630243Have you ever stopped to reflect on your life and what you are doing? I am 58 and the last few years have been some of the most difficult of my life. Recently I was reflecting on my life and ministry and asking myself, “Am I done with this stage in my life? Does the Lord have a different direction he wants me to take? Should I continue to do college ministry here in this place?” And then I felt the Lord speak to me during my Quiet Time (time spent reading the Bible and praying).

Psalm 71:18 “Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me.” NLT

I felt the Lord say to me, “Here are your new marching orders, tell of My Power to this new generation (college students), remind them of My Mighty Miracles.”

I can do that. 🙂

Dear Kevin, I ran across your blog today and I just want to say I have enjoyed reading your posts. I appreciate this one especially as I am 51 and working toward my Masters in Theological studies and growing tired as I come to the end of that schooling this summer. Often wondered why God called me to change careers this late in life. I appreciate your thoughts about your marching orders. I will keep your blog on my favorites and return to read more. Keep on…what you are doing matters! Sue

Sue, thanks for the encouragement. Over the years I have found it easy to get discouraged and to have feelings that make you want to quit. Then I reflect upon Jesus and all that He went through and He never quit. He did the hard thing and kept going until He finished the task the Father had given Him. My prayer is that we would do the same. Not by our power but by His.
